The Grand View Dance team continues to work hard to compete at a high level as a NAIA team. The team competed in the Iowa State Dance Championship, placing 2nd in Pom, 3rd in Jazz, and 3rd in Hip Hop. The team was also awarded the Character Counts Team of the Year award. The Character Counts Foundation developed this award to acknowledge the strategies & resources to help improve the student-athletes' character, social-emotional, and academic skills as well as to improve school culture.
The dance team dedicates a portion of their season to giving back to the community and gaining connections through serving their society. They are involved in a variety of ways to give back including Miracle League, Kindness Rock Project, pop tab donation for Ronald McDonald House, baking & cleaning at the Des Moines Ronald McDonald House, donating to food pantries, creating Hospice Hope Kits, food drives, tutoring local elementary students, choreography for local high schools, and many more.
As we wrapped up the semester, we also gave out team awards from our captains, these awards included most perseverance, most energy, most improved, most supportive, and other awards to highlight our dancers. Our team works hard to be the best dancers and contributors to our society.
2023-2024 Competitive Dance
This season, GVDT has participated in an intensive dance training program including being very active and present on and around campus as well as the community. One of our goals as a team is to continually support other Grand View athletic programs by bringing entertainment and excitement to the game day experience for the VIKING community and its supporters. Another goal is to successfully represent Grand View in our competitive season. Grand View Dance has built an exceptional reputation both nationally and locally, finishing in the top three at the NAIA Competitive Dance National Championships.
The money raised from this campaign will allow our team to continue being competitive at the state and national level. We plan to:
